Born to Dare — Rolex's Bold Sibling

    About Tudor

Tudor was founded by Rolex's Hans Wilsdorf to offer Rolex-quality cases with more accessible pricing. Today, Tudor has carved its own identity with acclaimed models like the Black Bay and Pelagos. With in-house movements and military heritage, Tudor delivers serious horological credibility at a fraction of Rolex prices.

    Tudor history in brief

    Founded
    1926
    Headquarters
    Geneva, Switzerland

Hans Wilsdorf registered the Tudor name in 1926 to offer a more affordable watch backed by Rolex reliability; for decades Tudor used Rolex cases and crowns with outsourced movements. Since 2015 Tudor has introduced its own manufacture calibres, and the Black Bay line — launched in 2012 — turned the brand into one of the most popular in the $3,000–$5,000 range. Tudor is also known for supplying the French Navy (Marine Nationale) with Submariners for decades.

    Signature Tudor models

    • Black Bay Fifty-Eight — A 39mm vintage-style diver many collectors consider the ideal size.
    • Pelagos — Titanium tool diver with a 70-hour, COSC-certified movement.
    • Black Bay GMT — A 'Pepsi' bezel GMT for roughly a third of the Rolex equivalent.
