    About Hamilton

Hamilton bridges American heritage with Swiss manufacturing. Known for field watches and Hollywood connections (appearing in over 500 films), Hamilton offers exceptional mechanical watches starting under $500. The Khaki Field remains one of the best-value Swiss watches available.

    Hamilton history in brief

    Founded
    1892
    Headquarters
    Biel/Bienne, Switzerland (originally Lancaster, Pennsylvania)

Hamilton was founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and became famous for railroad pocket watches accurate enough to prevent train collisions. It supplied the US military in both world wars, which inspired today's Khaki Field line, and in 1957 released the Ventura, the first battery-powered wristwatch. Hamilton joined the Swiss group that became the Swatch Group in 1974 and now makes its watches in Switzerland, using ETA-based movements with extended power reserve.

    Signature Hamilton models

    • Khaki Field Mechanical — A hand-wound military field watch with 80 hours of reserve for about $500.
    • Khaki Aviation — Pilot's watches with strong film-industry visibility.
    • Ventura — An asymmetric 1957 design, made famous by Elvis Presley.
